If you have a garden you know the never-ending struggle with slugs and snails. In keeping with my no-kill policy, I've had to re-home quite a few of these slow little critters. Maybe I'm weird, but I actually enjoy watching snails creep their way across the sidewalk or slither down an aloe leaf.
While generally pretty small - typically only an inch or two - snails have some pretty cool attributes: like, did you know that some species have up to 20,000 teeth! No joke! Imagine having to clean all of those tiny little teeth. It may come as no surprise that snails need moisture to survive, and when in danger of drying out they can sleep for up to three years in order to survive. And, as gross as this may seem, humans all over the world consider snail as a food source. I wish I were there to see the first person think, "hmm, I wonder what that snail would taste like?" I'm not going to lie, my wife and I have eaten sea snail - not as terrible as you'd think.
A dead turtle lies on its back with an x over each eye. Nearby, two snails are discussing, "Everything just happened so fast!"
