Most people associate the image of a skeleton with dread and death and dark, negative things. But the skeletal system is actually nothing to fear. In fact, it is darn cool. For example, did you know that babies are born with 300 bones while adults end up with only 206? Its not that we lose bones as we grow up, but a lot of them get fused together over time. Were you aware that more than half of your bones are in your hands and feet? Seriously, 106 of your 206 bones are located in those spots. How about the fact that toe bones are the most precious bones in our entire system? Fascinating, huh?
See, skeletons and the bones that make them arent that frightening or cause for alarm. Theyre a remarkable part of nature that makes all life possible. Like most things that people find scary (see: sharks) there is a lot of cool stuff about skeletons that people are just too frightened to find out. Skeletons are just misunderstood. Once you understand something, that thing becomes far less scary.
Two skeletons are sitting on a tiny desert island. One skeleton is laying down sunbathing, drinking a beverage and the other is seated. The seated skeleton says, "Man, this party is dead." to which the other skeleton replies, "Tell me about it."
