Thanks to the rise of dating websites, a lot of the unpredictability of finding a mate has been taken away. The whole procedure has become so structured now. You fill out a questionnaire, you upload your best picture, you list your likes and dislikes. You even post your height, weight and eye color. Finding a partner to ask out is like ordering a pizza, you can now find a custom fit.
On one hand, thats great. It makes dating easier and it ensures that people can land the match theyre looking for. But it takes some of the adventure and liveliness out of dating. You dont get to discover your partner as spontaneously, you dont get as many (hopefully good) surprises. The randomness of courtship is gone, replaced with a process that feels a lot like taking a standardized test.
A male stick figure approaches a female stick figure at a bar with the line, "Hey there...". The female stick figure cuts him off by handing him a sheet of paper with the questions, "what is your name?", "what is your age", "what is your highest level of education", "have you ever cheated?", "do you have kids?", "are you a douchebag?". The male stick figure walks away.
