The Story Behind Event Horizon

It seems that no matter where you’re from, someone always needs to “get outta here.” You can live in the biggest city on Earth or the smallest podunk berg on the map and you’ll still find a good deal of people who are dying to escape. Everyone is living in a Bruce Springsteen song, yearning to break the chains of the town they grew up in and never look back.

But it seems that a lot of people never leave. And, oddly enough, a lot of people come back to the same suffocating surroundings they swore they’d never come back to. It’s humorous to me how many people end up in the exact same place they vowed to escape from. What keeps people in place or keeps them coming back? Is it familiarity? The ease of just coasting along in a place you know so well? Whatever the reason, hometowns seem to be like a Ferris wheel: no matter what, a lot of people come right back to where they started.
